I’m an amputee

Whether you’re unboxing your Pro Armour Product  for the first time or need a refresher – here’s all the info you need to know.

The rundown

Our Pro Armour Products are the ultimate in protection for your prosthetic limb – helping you save time and do more. They are both lightweight and take seconds to put on.

Wear them to protect your prosthetic foot/feet and components from the elements like; water, dirt, dust, sand and snow. With two options, footwear can now become optional depending on your environment. They also look great as a cosmetic cover.

Frequently asked questions

Are they waterproof?

Almost! Our Pro Armour Products are seam sealed and will keep almost all water out. Since there’s a small chance water will enter through the top if submerged, we can’t guarantee it’s waterproof.

What is the best footwear to wear with my Pro Armour Lite?
We find that lightweight footwear, like a running shoe, works best. However, your choice of sandal, shoe or boot should work fine too. Remember: you must wear the black sock provided.
Can I keep it on my leg permanently?

Yes you can, just remember to take it off if you plan to walk around without footwear on with the Pro Armour Lite

Where can I get a new one?

For New Zealand patients, Pro Armour products are free and available at your nearest Limb Centre – ask your prosthetist for one today! For anyone outside of New Zealand, please enquire here and we’ll get one to you asap!

Why do I have to wear the sock provided on my prosthetic foot?
It makes putting on your Pro Armour Lite a lot easier! It’s also low volume, this helps fit your prosthetic foot and Pro Armour Lite into your footwear without it being too tight.
What will happen if I walk with the Pro Armour Lite with no footwear on?

You’ll either slip over or put a hole in your Pro Armour Lite. No one wants that! And please be aware, if you walk around with your Pro Armour Lite indoors or outdoors without footwear (sandals, shoes, boots etc), this will void the warranty.

The Pro Armour PLUS has been designed for this exact use.  Having a  low profile, non slip, rubberised sole it gives you the traction that you need when transitioning from different surfaces and gradients while barefoot.

How can I get my foot into my shoe easily?

Wear the sock provided and choose footwear that isn’t too tight. You may also find it easier to remove your prosthetic limb, then put the Pro Armour Lite on, then your footwear. Alternatively, try placing your footwear on a table (or similar), use two hands to put/push your foot into your footwear. Use a shoehorn if necessary.

Do I need both the Lite and PLUS Products?

Our products have been designed to work in unison, to take you where you want to be, removing limitations and restrictions.  Our Lite will take you where footwear is required or perferred and our PLUS is to be used without footwear.  Two solutions working together to giving you the confidence and protection you require.  Simple answer – YES.
